Barbara Claypool, 78, Brazil, passed away at 10:20 p.m., Aug. 28, 2009, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was born in Henry County, Ind., June 5, 1931, to Charles and Beulah (Lilley) Huffman.

She graduated from Danville High School in 1949. Following high school, she attended Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis and graduated in 1952. Barbara worked at Clay County Hospital for many years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the IU Alumni Association and a very active member of the Brazil First Christian Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Beulah Huffman, and step-sister Joy Lucas Denson.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Morris Claypool, daughters Becky Dale Claypool, Minneapolis, Minn., Dena Claypool Minor (Bradley), Staunton, and Lisa Marie Claypool, Indianapolis, grandchildren Laura Minor Stewart (Aaron), Kay Michelle Garrison (Nick), and David Dale Palme, great-grandchildren Jaicee and Kyler Edington and Addison Stewart, and brother Charles Huffman.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, from 4-8 p.m.

At the family's request, donations are to be made to the Brazil First Christian Church in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
