North Clay volleyball remains unbeaten

The North Clay seventh and eighth-grade volleyball teams improved to 4-0 this season with a pair of wins against Edgewood and Brown County over the weekend.

The eighth-grade Knights scored a 21-10, 18-21, 15-7 win over the Colts of Edgewood and a 21-13, 22-20 win against Brown County.

Audrey Clark piled up 14 points, a kill, an ace and three assists for the Knights and Lorrie LaTourette had a combined 11 points, two kills and an ace. Shelby Timberman had 11 points and a kill in the victories and Shelbi Morris had eight points, four kills and three aces.

Emily Pollard was another standout with four points, an assist and a service ace with Leslie Ringo adding five points and Lindsey Potter adding three kills. Libby Deckard contributed three points and an ace with Jami Warner adding three points and Jade Mills had two. Kayla Watson added in a kill of her own in the matches.

In the seventh-grade matches, North Clay won 21-6, 21-6 over Edgewood as Shea Britton had 10 points along with Mannah Mace, who also had two aces in the victory. Kenzi Kumpf had five points with an ace and a kill while Madison Nevins chipped in with four points. Hannah Minor added two points and an ace with Sydney Buell scoring a point. Mikayla Rowan had two kills and Taylor Hess had an assist.

In the second game, the Knights battled for a 19-21, 21-13, 15-5 victory as Mace had 13 points, Nevins had seven and Lainey Latham had five. Whitney Halfhill chipped four points into the victory with Kenzi Mager adding three, Abbey Timberman had two along with Rowan, who also had four kills.

Hess had two assists with Mace adding one and Kumpf had three kills along with a point. Gracie Geswein, Minor and Samantha Smith each had points.

The Knights host Honey Creek tonight beginning at 5 p.m.
