It is time for the board's annual Fishing Fun Day, which has been scheduled from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19.
For the fifth year in a row the parks board is inviting members of the community to enjoy the scenery of Craig Park and a relaxing morning of fishing.
"It is really a joy to see the children's faces when they catch a fish," Board President Ruth Ann Jeffries said.
The event is free to all children 16-under and adults 66-over. All children must be accompanied with an adult. Anyone from ages 17-65, must have a current Indiana Fishing License.
Prizes will be given away at 11 a.m., and will be awarded by random drawings. Only children 12-under can win prizes.
"We try to make sure that all the children get prizes," Jeffries said to the board. "We also need to make sure that 12-year-olds get a 12-year-old toy and 4-year-olds get a 4-year-old toy."
The board also strives to make sure boys get boy toys and girls get girl toys. They also try to make the grand prize bicycles specific for each age group and gender.
Everyone is encouraged to bring his or her own fishing pole and enjoy the refreshments.
On Monday, the board will be having the ribbon cutting for the Born Learning Trail at Forest Park, beginning at 11:15 a.m.
The next meeting of the Brazil City Parks Board will be Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., in Council Chambers at City Hall.
