Forest Dale McHargue, 76, Carbon, died at 1:45 a.m., Sept. 7, 2009, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.
He was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Bridgeton, to Malcolm McHargue and Fauneil Martin McHargue.
He worked at IBM in Sherman, Texas, and Greencastle, for 31 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a 1950 graduate of Bridgeton High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Walker, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1954.
His wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Dayhuff, whom he married Dec. 14, 1957, survives him.
Other survivors include sons Timothy McHargue, Carbon, Rodger McHargue and wife Susie, Carbon, and Steve McHargue and wife Lourdes, Charlotte, N.C., sister Jane Reeves and husband Jack, Brazil, grandchildren Colin, Lauren and Haley McHargue, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Gooch Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert Kumpf officiating.
Visitation was one half hour prior to services.
