The annual Brazil Kiwanis K-Day is set for Saturday, Sept. 26.

The pancake and breakfast festival will be at the new Brazil VFW Post No. 1127, 303 S. Depot St., from 6 a.m.-noon.

Advance tickets sales are available through the Northview High School Key Club, North Clay Middle School Builders Club and Kiwanis members for $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The cost for tickets at the door is $6.

The K-Day Parade will take place along National Avenue at 2 p.m., traveling from Depot Street to Vandalia Street. This year's theme is "Together We Can," and the parade lineup will begin at 1 p.m., at the intersection of Depot and National Avenue.

The Key Club and Builders Club will also be hosting the K-Day Queen and Princess contest, via advance ticket sales, as the coronation will kick off the K-Day celebration Thursday, Sept. 24. The time and location of the contest has not been set.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers with a mission dedicated to changing the world one child and community at a time. Its motto is "We build," and its theme is "Young children priority one."

In its 73rd year, the Brazil Kiwanis builds and supports the mission through the Boy and Girls Scouts, 4-H, YMCA, Key Club, Builders Club, Riley Hospital, Special Olympics, scholarships, special request or interest groups and other service club projects. From the Boy and Girl Scouts to the Key and Builders clubs, volunteering and fundraising activities are conducted through the Kiwanis, which has an effect on how much is available to give. All profits go toward these projects.

Through a Kiwanis membership, individuals provide their talent and a little of their time to mentor and support our youth.

Together we can make a difference one child and one community at a time.

The public is welcome to offer its resources, talent and time as a "mentor" to the youth of the community.

The Kiwanis meet twice a month on the first and third Thursday, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the Busy Corner Restaurant, 903 W. Jackson St., Brazil.
