Clay City downs Panthers; Arrows defeat Knights

The Clay City Eels picked up a five-game volleyball win on the road at Riverton Parke on Thursday night, 23-25, 28-18, 26-28, 25-21, 16-14.

Kelly McCullough scored six points with 21 assists, six kills and three blocks and Lynsey Higgens added seven points, five aces, seven digs, 12 kills and four blocks in the victory over the Panthers.

Sophomore Brielle Drelick contributed six kills and Shelby Hane added in 10 points, five digs and eight kills. LaKyla Cook chipped in with seven points, two aces and six digs while Olivia Schindler piled up 15 points with four digs and 17 assists. Callie Dayhuff had seven points, seven digs, two aces and three kills as Clay City's varsity improved to 7-2 overall with a home match on Monday against Sullivan.

In the JV match, Clay City scored a 25-18, 25-13 victory paced by Shaya Stevenson's seven points, 13 assists and four aces. Meeghan Riggs had three points, four kills, two aces and two assists with Asie Jeffers adding two kills and two aces. Madison Jackson had four points and two assists for the Eels and Halli Brewer had six points and five kills and Chloe Kittle had five kills as the JV team improved to 5-2 overall.

Northview girls soccer

SULLIVAN -- The Sullivan Golden Arrows clinched a share of the Western Indiana Conference girls' soccer title on Wednesday evening as Christina Haag broke open a 1-0 game at halftime to send her squad to a 5-0 victory.

Haag scored with 11 minutes left in the first half to give Sullivan a 1-0 margin at the mid-point, however, she would tally three more goals in an eight-minute period of the second half to secure the victory.

Shallee Hathaway had four saves in net for Northview and both Raven Enders and Gwen Snow had saves. Carlee Bell, Krista Stearley, Lauren Webster, Lindsay Woodcox and Snow each had a steal.

Sullivan outshot the Knights 17-5 in the match.

Northview falls to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the WIC and host Greencastle this morning at 9 a.m.

Northview girls golf

GREENCASTLE -- The Northview Knights edged out Crawfordsville at Windy Hill Country Club on Thursday evening led by a 51 from Mandy Thom-linson.

The Knights had a team score of 223 to beat the Athenians' 224 and Green-castle's 247.

Green-castle's Chelsea Samuels was the medalist with a nine-hole score of 50 for the Tiger Cubs.

The Knights are back in action on Monday when they host Owen Valley.
