The Northview volleyball team remained unbeaten in conference play with wins over Brown County and Sullivan on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights opened with a decisive 25-16, 25-13, 25-20 win over the Eagles before getting a stern test against the Arrows before winning a 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 15-9 match.
"This was a match that really tested our mental toughness and heart," coach Scott McDonald said of the Sullivan contest. "We got down 2-1 and my kids really pulled together and got the job done."
Ashlen Buck remained a force on the defensive front, scooping up 32 digs against the Arrows with Ali Sharton dished out 28 assists with 13 digs and an ace. Hannah Hayes passed out an eye opening 35 assists along with seven kills and eight digs. Kaylee Clark ripped Sullivan for 22 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Brittaney Long added 17 kills and 15 digs and Brylie Riddell added 11 kills, two blocks, three digs and two aces.
"Brittaney and Kaylee carried us to this huge WIC win," McDonald said. "Ali and Hannah put our hitters in great positions to swing."
Alyssa Clarke blasted eight kills and blocked five Sullivan attacks with five digs as well. Lizzie Emmert had two kills and three assists, Brailyn Whitson had seven digs and Samantha Solomon had two kills.
"For the second time in our last three, we have won a five-set match," McDonald said of the nailbiter. "That shows the character, toughness, and gutty effort that these kids have developed. Our pursuit of the ball was also tremendous, we had kids diving all over the floor."
In the win over the Eagles, Long had 11 kills, Kaylee Clark had eight and Riddell had seven with four digs and seven aces. Alyssa Clarke had three kills, two blocks and four digs with Maxine West adding three digs. Solomon had three kills for the Knights and Buck had 14 digs. Sharton chipped in 16 assists and Hayes added 14.
