The North Clay seventh-grade football team powered to a 32-6 victory on Wednesday evening at Cascade.
The Knights were denied an early score in the first quarter as Derek Mills took a handoff to the left and raced to paydirt, however, a penalty flag brought the ball back. Several plays later, Mills wasn't going to be denied as he found the endzone again. The two-point conversion was denied, but North Clay grabbed the lead.
On defense, Mills and Jackson Copper each recovered fumbles.
In the second period, North Clay extended its lead on rushing touchdowns by Mills, Steven Lovett and Robert Walters. North Clay led 26-6 at halftime.
In the third period, Copper scored his second touchdown of the contest with the blocking help of his offensive line, which consisted of: Cody Grigsby, Braden Timberman, Buzz Munooz, Curtis Stearley and Waylon Layne.
The Cadets continued to mistake prone as Copper, Garrett Lessman, Lovett and Kevin Coahran each recovering fumbles. Grigsby stepped into a linebacker role and also intercepted a pass. Henry Batchelor also had a couple of touchdown denying tackles as time wound down.
