Lillian Rosalie Bridgewater

Lillian Rosalie Bridgewater, 86, Brazil, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born April 28, 1923, in Clay County, as the daughter of Ross M. and Anna Logan Evans.

Following graduation from high school, she graduated from West Penn University nursing program as a Registered Nurse and began her nursing career at West Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. She continued her education at Notre Dame University, where she received her Master's degree in nursing.

She worked with the TB League in Pittsburgh, served as the Director of Nursing at Clay County Hospital, and had worked briefly in Dr. Garvin and Dr. Wood's offices.

She had also been employed at CBS Records in Terre Haute.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brazil and was a founding member of the Clay County RN Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold Arthur Bridgewater and sister Marcene Hutchison.

She is survived by daughter Juanita Houk (Dennis), Reelsville, Ind., sons Dr. Dee Bridgewater, Los Angeles, and Dr. Lee Bridgewater, Daytona, Fla., sister Joanne Waite, Michigan, grandchildren Brian Rissler, Terre Haute, Kimberly Ann Rissler-Cruser, Nashville, Ind., Brian Houk (Shannon) and Kristy Bright (Craig), and great-grandchildren Niki Rissler, Justin Houk, Jordan Houk, Tyler Bright and Madison Bright.

Moore Funeral Home was chosen to provide cremation services.

A private family service will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Walnut St., Brazil, Ind., 47834.
