Master Gardeners seminar slated

TERRE HAUTE -- Calling all "Master Gardeners."

The Wabash Valley Master Gardeners will conduct a seminar from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Girl Scout Headquarters, located at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute.

Registration and breakfast for the event will take place from 8:15-8:55 a.m., Oct. 14, with events beginning at 9 a.m.

Cost is $25, which includes the breakfast and lunch.

Cost is $30 for those who register after Oct. 14.

The featured speaker of the event will be Dr. Marion Jackson, author of "101 Trees of Indiana."

Jackson will conduct a book signing at the event.

From 10-10:50 a.m., Jerry Lehman, president of the Indiana Nut Growers Association, will discuss Paw Paws and Persimmons.

From 11-11:50 a.m., Tom Turpin, professor of Entomology at Purdue University, will discuss good bugs and bad bugs.

A break for lunch will commence before WTHI-TV 10 Chief Meteorlogist Kevin Orpert will discuss fall weather lore from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
