CLAY CITY -- The Clay City volleyball team picked a conference victory over Bloomfield on Thursday evening, 28-18, 25-16, 19-25, 25-15.
The Eels got three points, six digs, 24 assists, 10 kills and three blocks in an all-around effort. Lynsey Higgins came up with a team-high 12 kills with seven digs, seven points, three aces and five blocks and Brielle Drelick contributed four digs and seven kills. Shelby Hane contributed nine points, six digs, eight kills and two blocks and LaKyla Cook added 10 points, two aces, three digs and three kills. Olivia Schindler added in seven points with five digs and 11 assists. Callie Dayhuff chipped in with seven points, 11 digs, four aces, three assists, two kills and a block.
In the JV match, Clay City downed the Cardinals by a 25-16, 25-15 score.
Shaya Stevenson had nine assists, six points, two kills and an ace in the victory. Meeghan Riggs had four points, three aces, two digs an assist and four kills. Asie Jeffers had four digs, two kills, three points and a block. Chloe Kittle chipped in with five points, five digs and five kills and Halli Brewer added seven points, three kills a block and an ace. Kayla Sinders contributed a dig in the victory.
The Eels visit Northview on Monday night where it will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
The motto this year is, "Digging It Up for a Cure."
T-shirts will be available again this year and the teams would like everyone to wear them to the game. The teams will honor those lost to the disease and those who are survivors between games. Order forms will be available at the schools as well as at The Brazil Times. The money raised will be donated to the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
