The Northview girls' golf team quest for a berth in the IHSAA State Finals stops at the Martinsville Regional on Saturday to be played at Foxcliff Golf Club.

The competition will be some of the toughest in any regional around the state with three ranked teams and one on the honorable mention list.

The Northview Knights placed third at the Northview Sectional played at Forest Park, carding as season best 349, which was 25 strokes better than the previous best. Terre Haute South, which received honorable mention in the state coaches' poll, won the sectional with a score of 337. Terre Haute North was second with a score of 339 and all three teams will compete on Saturday.

Olivia Oehler shot a 79 for the Knights to finish third overall and Mandy Thomlinson scored an 83. Hayley Miller added a 91, Allison Trout had a 96 and Shelby French carded a 111.

Martinsville was the winner at the Danville Sectional and is the No. 2 ranked team in the state and is playing on its home course. The Athenians are led by Kelsey Benson, who shot a 77 in the sectional. Martinsville was the state champion in 2007 and placed fifth last year at The Legends of Indiana Course.

Columbus North comes in ranked No. 3 after winning the Bloomington North Sectional with a 311 and placed third in the state finals last year. Two-time all-state golfer, Taylor Gohn, leads the team and shot a 71 in the sectional.

The third sectional winner was Jennings County, the 19th-ranked team in the state and the winner of the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional with a 348. The Bulldogs were led by Jessica Beeman, who had a 77 in sectional play.

Joining those teams in the regional will be Bedford North Lawrence, Brownstown Central, Bloomington South, Center Grove, Avon and Plainfield.

In last year's regional, Martinsville claimed the title with a 326 followed by Columbus North's 334 and Avon's 337. Those three advanced to the state finals with Terre Haute South in fourth. The Knights shot a 424 with Thomlinson shooting a 98 to lead the Knights.
