North Clay volleyball teams cruise past Eels

CLAY CITY -- The North Clay volleyball teams came away with a pair of victories on Monday night as the seventh-grade posted a 25-9, 25-5 victory and the eighth-grade won 25-7, 25-21 over the Eels.

In the seventh-grade contest, Whit-ney Halfhill posted 15 points with four service aces and Abbey Timberman contributed an 11-point effort with three aces for the Knights. Madison Nevins followed with four points along with Hannah Minor and Taylor Hess added two points with an ace and an assist. Kenzie Mager, Lainey Latham and Shea Britton each had a point and McKenzie Kumpf had a kill.

In the eighth-grade contest, Liz McVeigh had six points and an ace for the Knights and Shelbi Morris filled the stat sheet with five points, three kills and three aces while Jade Mills, Emily Pollard, Libby Deck-ard and Lindsey Potter each posted four points apiece. Audrey Clark topped the squad with three assists. Kayla Watson had two points and Leslie Ringo added a point for the Knights.

The seventh-grade is now 13-0 on the season and the eighth-grade improves to 12-1 as the teams face Riverton Parke tonight at 5:30 p.m. in a match that also includes the sixth-grade squad.
