Clay City takes bite out of Wildcats

CLINTON -- The Clay City Eels posted a three-game win against South Vermillion on the road Tuesday evening, 26-24, 25-23, 25-11.

The win improves the Eels to 11-5 overall this season.

Kelly McCullough had eight points, two aces, 19 assists, five kills and a pair of blocks while Lynsey Higgins added seven points, nine kills, three aces and three digs in the victory. Shelby Hane had seven points, four digs, two kills a block and an assist with Brielle Drelick contributing eight kills. LaKyla Cook posted eight points, six digs and three kills in the match and Olivia Schindler had four points, two aces and nine assists with Callie Dayhuff adding a point, two aces, a dig, four kills and an assist.

In the JV match, Clay City fell 25-22, 25-24 despite two points, four aces, three digs and two kills by Halli Brewer and two points with three aces from Chloe Kittle. Shaya Stevenson added in two points, three digs and 13 assists to go with Meeghan Riggs, who had three points, three digs and three kills. Asie Jeffers contributed another two points, four digs and a kill while Madison Jackson had four digs.

The JV team is now 9-5 on the season and both squads travel to Eastern on Friday night.
