Brazil resident dies as result of accident

Thursday, October 1, 2009

A Brazil man, who apparently walked into the path of a moving vehicle on Sept. 24, has died from his injuries.

Brazil Police Chief Dave Archer told The Brazil Times on Thursday, Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr notified the department that Robert C. Parke, 37, died from injuries sustained during the accident, which took place near the intersection of Ridge Street and State Road 59.

According to the accident report filed at the Brazil Police Department, Parke was walking west along Ridge Street when he walked out into traffic on SR 59. Due the early-morning darkness and rainy weather conditions, Janet Johnson, 38, Brazil, told investigators she was unable to see or avoid hitting Parke with her vehicle.

Deemed an accident, Archer confirmed no charges would be filed against Johnson.

Very sad accident. Sympathy to Mr. Parke's family and friends. And to Ms. Johnson, as well. Very unfortunate.
