JTCB to play at State House

Sunday, October 4, 2009

The Jackson Township Community Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will perform in the rotunda of the Indiana State House Wednesday for the Retired Teacher Appreciation Day.

Several members of the JTCB are educators, both active and retired.

Brazil resident Andrew P. Thomas is executive director of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

The event will include refreshments, a health fair and guided tours of the State House.

This is the second consecutive year the JTCB has been invited to perform.

Huber, who is also a retired teacher with 33 years of service in the Greencastle Community School Corporation, said it is an honor any time a band gets invited to perform at the State House and the band looks forward to the performance.

The JTCB will open the event with its signature march, "JTCB on Parade," which is a medley of Indiana college fight songs and "Back Home Again in Indiana."

Organized in Hoosierville, Clay County, in 1915, the band performs at festivals throughout the county and the Wabash Valley.
