City employee injured in accident

Wednesday, October 7, 2009
The driver of a Brazil City sanitation truck was air ambulanced to an Indianapolis hospital for injuries sustained in an accident at the intersection of State Road 59 and SR 46 Wednesday afternoon.

Although details are limited due to the ongoing investigation by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, officials did confirm the unidentified driver was alert and talking to emergency personnel before being transported to Wishard Hospital by AirEvac for treatment of head injuries.

The driver's name will not be released until their family is notified.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., 911 dispatchers were notified a sanitation truck rolled into a ditch on the south side of State Road 46 while attempting to turn west at the intersection.

Members of Indiana State Police, Center Point and Cory volunteer fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare responded to the scene.

This story will be updated as further details are released.
