SPENCER -- Consider goal number two accomplished for the Northview volleyball team.

The Knights capped an unbeaten Western Indiana Conference schedule by cruising past Owen Valley on Wednesday evening, 25-10, 25-15, 25-12. The victory gave Northview its second straight conference crown and builds momentum heading into another tough weekend tournament test. Coach Scott McDonald was pleased with how his team played despite a schedule that has slowed to focus mostly on tourney play on the weekends.

"We played very well tonight," McDonald said. "Every phase of our game, including some offensive sets, was very strong. Maxine West finishing the game out with a jump serve ace made the night very special. Winning the WIC for the second year in a row is the second goal we set out for this season."

The Knights got plenty of support from their seniors in the victory, which made the night even more joyous.

Stephanie McMains served up an ace in the victory while Brailyn Whitson compiled five digs. Kaylee Clark had two kills, eight digs and five aces and Brittaney Long rang up a team-high 11 kills with five digs and three aces. Ali Sharton passes out 10 assists with six digs, an ace and a kill and Alyssa Clarke posted four kills, a dig and an ace. West had a dig to go with the match-point ace and Samantha Solomon added an assist.

Junior setter, Hannah Hayes had 15 assists with six kills, four digs and a service ace.

Sophomore Ashlen Buck had 12 digs for the Knights and classmate, Briana Cook had an assist with freshman, Brylie Riddell ringing up seven kills, five aces, an assist and two blocks.

"We definitely are moving in the direction that we need to for the sectional," McDonald said. "We have a huge challenge this weekend in another tournament that will be a big test for us."

The Knights improved to 20-6 this season and compete in the North Montgomery Tournament on Saturday with the final home match slated for Oct. 15.
