During a pandemic, the flu may spread rapidly in any given community, having the potential to incapacitate a business.
If a workplace and all its employees are prepared and know what to do to protect themselves and their families, the business can minimize the impact on normal business operations as well as to the employees and their families.
To support business preparedness, the American Red Cross is disseminating new resources to:
* Educate employees about how to prepare for and respond effectively to pandemic flu, and
* Aid in business sustainability in the face of pandemic flu.
A Small Business Workplaces for Pandemic Flu Toolkit is now available through the American Red Cross.
The toolkit contains everything needed to set up and deliver a 90-minute presentation at worksites, and includes a printed leader's guide, a DVD and a CD-ROM of instructional tools and resources for employers, planners and employees.
The program may be delivered by an employee trained by the Red Cross or businesses may contact the Red Cross to schedule a presentation.
