Sprucing up!

Friday, October 9, 2009

Brazil Grill Restaurant Manager Bill Puerner took a break from tending the new flowers outside the restaurant Wednesday afternoon. Puerner, Pam Buchanan, Paul Smerage and several other staff members planted 70 various colored mum plants during the past week. The work is part of a beautification project around Steel City Truck Stop in preparation for the anticipated visitors attending the 2009 Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Also on display in front of the business are four wagons from Steel City Truck Stop owner William McEnery's private antique wagon collection. Ivy Jacobs Photo.

It is a pretty display. Obviosly lot of time and money involved, nice to see a local business make the effort to brighten our community.

My Mom and I love to go to the truck stop and dine on our favorite cusine, the "Chef's Special" omlet with hash browns and sourdough toast. YUM YUM! Anyway, we always sit by the window and watch either the hummingbirds or the sparrows feed on the various things they find delicious outside the window. It is very relaxing and entertaining. Thank you Steel City (now Gas City, we know your Big Boss from racing days back up in Chicago!) for going the extra mile to create a pleasant picture and relaxing atmosphere.
