McCormick's Creek to go 'batty' Saturday

Monday, October 12, 2009

SPENCER -- Batsongs are out of the cave and happening at McCormick's Creek State Park, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17.

Musical Mark, a children's singer-songwriter from Ohio, will present his Bat Song Tour at the park amphitheater. The show features Mark in his bat costume performing active songs about bats using multi-media sound, props and special effects.

His nationally released CD, "We're Just Hangin' Out," contains 10 educational songs about bats and will be available at the show.

After the performance, he will join the audience for photos and autographs.

Musical Mark's evening performance will cap off the day at Bat Fest. Those attending will have the opportunity to see live bats, make a bat box, listen to bat stories, crawl through an inflatable cave and more. Bat Fest events begin at 11 a.m., at the Nature Center and continue through the evening.

Regular park entrance fee applies for the event as cost is $5 per vehicle ($7 for out-of-state vehicles).

For more information about Bat Fest or to reserve a spot in the bat box workshop, call 812-829-4344.
