John Kirby Brown, 76, Reelsville, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, 2009, at Meadows Manor East, Terre Haute.
He was born May 26, 1933, in Clay County, as the son of Floyd Otis and Susan Elizabeth Smith Brown. He attended Brazil High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956. He had been employed as a truck driver at Schwerman Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son James Michael Brown, brothers Carl, Lee, Bill, Luther and Joe Brown, and sisters Laura Westray and Audrey Deardorff.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Mae Atkison Brown, son John K. Brown, Jr., Knoxville, Tenn., daughter Jerrie Lynn Carroll Muncie, stepson Terry (Berta) Bair Conyers, Ga., stepdaughters Deanna (Paul) Holmes and Marla Assad, all of Mesa, Ariz., sisters Maud Riley, Carbon, and Irma (Chuck) Hiatt, Sheridan, Ind., grandchildren Crimson Brown and John K. Brown III and other extended family.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon, Monday, Oct. 19, at Moore Funeral Home. A Military Honors service will be conducted at the funeral home at noon Monday. Following the service, Mr. Brown's body will be cremated and his ashes buried at Bee Ridge Cemetery in Brazil.
