County bands set for regional

The "second season" for state marching bands continues Saturday.

Both the Northview Marching Knights and Clay City Imperial Regiment will compete in Regional competition this weekend at Evansville Central High School.

Regional competition is the second level of state competition in the Indiana State School Music Association Marching season. Semistate action will take place Oct. 24, with state finals taking place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Oct. 31.

Northview competes in Class B and is scheduled to perform at 5:43 p.m.

Other Class B bands at Evansville Central Saturday include Mooresville (5:04 p.m.), Cathedral (5:17 p.m.), New Palestine (5:30 p.m.), Whiteland (5:56 p.m.), Evansville Central (6:09 p.m.), Floyd Central (6:22 p.m.), F.J. Reitz (6:48 p.m.), Evansville Harrison (7:01 p.m.), Jasper (7:14 p.m.), Greenwood (7:27 p.m.), Bloomington North (7:40 p.m.), Plainfield (7:53 p.m.), and Evansville North (8:06 p.m.).

Awards for Class B will follow immediately after competition.

The Marching Knights are still ranked in the top spot in this week's www.indianamarching.com poll.

Northview received 118 votes in this week's poll, including six first-place votes.

Greenwood ranks second with 112 votes, followed by Jasper (106 votes), Concord (94), New Castle (90), DeKalb (74), Northridge (63), Zionsville (63), Floyd Central (59), and Plainfield (48).

Clay City competes in Class D and is scheduled to perform at 1:10 p.m., Saturday.

Other Class D bands at Evansville Central Saturday include North Posey (11 a.m.), Henryville (11:11 a.m.), Eastern (Pekin) (11:26 a.m.), Tell City (11:39 a.m.), South Spencer (11:52 a.m.), Perry Central (12:05 p.m.), Springs Valley (12:18 p.m.), Southridge (12:31 p.m.), Orleans (12:57 p.m.), Paoli (1:23 p.m.), Borden (1:36 p.m.), Monrovia (1:49 p.m.), Forest Park (2:02 p.m.), New Washington (2:15 p.m.), and Crawford County (2:28 p.m.).

The Imperial Regiment received 21 votes in this week's www.indianamarching.com poll, good enough to rank 13th.

Springs Valley ranks first among Class D bands with 120 votes, followed by Lewis Cass (110), Forest Park (106), Paoli (94), North Posey (84), Bluffton (78), Woodlan (72), Monrovia (61), Orleans (52) and Southridge (49).
