To accommodate residents paying at the last minute, the Clay County Treasurer's Office will have extended office hours leading up to the Tuesday, Nov. 10 due date.
The extended hours are as follows:
* 8 a.m.-6 p.m. -- Friday, Nov. 6, Monday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 10, and
* 8 a.m.-noon -- Saturday, Nov. 7.
Clay County Treasurer Debbie James confirmed to The Brazil Times residents still have the option of paying their property taxes at area banks.
"The expansion of banks taxpayers could drop off their property taxes worked very well for the first installment due date," James said. "So we will again have Clay County branches of First Financial Bank, Terre Haute Savings Bank and Riddell National Bank as options for residents make payments along with our office being open for the additional hours."
James also told The Brazil Times property taxes may be paid online.
"Residents can log on to www.claytax.net or call 1-800-809-5849 to make payments with a credit card," she said. "However, there is a convenience fee added when utilizing this service."
Payments made at the Treasurer's Office must be done via cash or check, and regular office hours on days other than those listed above are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
