Both bands competed in the Evansville Central High School ISSMA Regional, coming away with gold ratings.
Joining Northview as a gold-rated band Saturday in Class B action included Whiteland, Floyd Central, F.J. Reitz, Jasper, Greenwood, Bloomington North and Plainfield.
Just missing the cut included New Palestine, Evansville Central, Mooresville, Evansville Harrison and Evansville North -- all of which received silver ratings -- and Cathedral, which came away with a bronze rating.
Joining Clay City in Class D as a gold rated band were North Posey, Tell City, South Spencer, Springs Valley, Southridge, Orleans, Paoli, Monrovia and Forest Park.
Silver-rated bands in Class D included Henryville, Eastern (Pekin), Perry Central, New Washington and Crawford County, while Borden earned a bronze rating.
Both bands will compete Saturday at ISSMA Semistate sites.
The ISSMA State Finals are scheduled to take place Oct. 31, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
