DANVILLE -- The Northview volleyball team wrapped up the regular season by defeating Danville on the road Monday evening, 25-13, 25-10, 25-22.
"We played very well in a game that I was very concerned about," coach Scott McDonald said. "My concern was an injury happening before the sectional. Our serve receive was very good which is a good sign going into the tournament."
The Knights were also able to get everyone into the game as senior Sam Solomon had two kills, an assist and a dig with classmate, Stephanie McMains adding two kills, a dig and another ace. Maxine West added two digs for the Knights, who also got two kills, a dig and an ace by Brailyn Whitson. Senior Alyssa Clarke posted three kills and a dig with Ali Sharton adding 13 assists, four kills and three aces. Brittaney Long contributed eight kills, five digs and two aces.
Ashlen Buck had seven digs and a kill while Kaylee Clark added six digs, five aces and three kills for the Knights. Brylie Riddell rang up five kills, a block, a dig and five aces.
McDonald counted his team's defensive prowess as a prime reason for the Knights' success.
"We have felt all along that we have the best defense and serve receive team in our sectional," McDonald said. "The games where that has not been strong, we have struggled. We are going to really hit that area of our game in the next couple of days in practice."
Also for the Knights, Hannah Hayes added a kill, 11 assists and an ace, Lizzie Emmert added three kills and Briana Cook had two assists and a dig.
The Knights will prepare for sectional competition, which begins on Thursday as Northview takes on Plainfield at the Martinsville Sectional.
"We are confident that we will perform well starting Thursday and take it through to the championship on Saturday night," McDonald said.
