Area Veteran to speak at Historical Society meeting

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

The Clay County Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the lower level of the museum.

This is the annual Thanksgiving meeting so there has been a change in time.

In honor of Veteran's Day, the guest speaker will be Hal Johnston, a veteran of 24 years military service.

He will discuss his experiences while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He has served with the National Guard's 76th Infantry Brigade with the rank of Major.

He is currently the Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Knox County.

The public is invited to attend the meeting. There will be a brief board meeting following the membership meeting.

For more information, call 443-1844.

Can't understand why you would have to go out of the county to find a veteran. There's been plenty of soldiers from this county went to Iraq and other places, just seems odd.
