Knights still top of rankings

They've been ranked in the top spot all season long and with only two weeks remaining in the 2009 campaign nothing has changed for the Northview Marching Knights.

For the seventh-consecutive week, the Marching Knights claimed the top spot in the www.indianamarching.com band polls among all state Class B bands.

This week, Northview received 118 votes, including seven first-place votes.

Coming in second was Jasper with 111 votes and the remaining first-place vote.

Greenwood and New Castle tied for third with 101 votes while Northridge was fifth with 83 votes. Plainfield came in sixth with 80 votes as DeKalb was seventh with 76 votes and Concord ranked eighth with 51 votes.

Greenfield-Central came in ninth with 47 votes while Zionsville ranked 10th with 46 votes.

Other Class B bands receiving votes in this week's poll included Bloomington North (45), North Side (42), Floyd Central (31), East Noble (13), F.J. Reitz (10) and Mt. Vernon (Fortville) (three).

In Class D, the Clay City Imperial Regiment continues to receive votes heading into semistate competition.

The Imperial Regiment tallied 15 votes in this week's poll.

Springs Valley leads the Class D poll with 120 votes, including all eight first-place tallies.

Coming in second was Lewis Cass with 111 votes, while Forest Park was third with 104 votes. Woodlan was fourth with 91 votes and North Posey was fifth with 89 votes.

Placing sixth was Monrovia with 80 votes, while Paoli was seventh with 77 votes, followed by Adams Central (60 votes), Bluffton (49 votes), and Eastern (Greentown) (47 votes).

Other Class D bands receiving votes included Southridge (41 votes), Orleans (33 votes), Eastside (seven votes), Morristown (five votes), Blue River Valley (two votes), South Spencer (one vote), Tell City (one vote), and Triton Central (one vote).

Both the Marching Knights and Imperial Regiment will compete in Indiana State School Marching Association Semistate action Saturday. Northview is scheduled to perform at Pike High School, while Clay City will compete at Franklin Community High School.

NMK not only made the top 10 on Saturday at Semi-state.... they also got the highest ranking score! Way to go Norhtview Marching Knights! You were AWESOME! Good luck at State next Sat at Lucas Oil Stadium... I will be there!
