She was born Aug. 9, 1918, in Brazil, as the daughter of George W. and Bertha Doran LaBier.
She graduated from Brazil High School and attended secretary school at ISU.
She was a homemaker who had also worked for 18 years in the law offices of attorney Eugene Weaver.
She was married to Richard R. Girton, who preceded her in death July 14, 1959. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and the First Presbyterian Church of Brazil, where she had served as a trustee and elder. She had also served as a board member of the Clay Civic Memorial Foundation. She enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, brother George LaBier, and sisters Mildred Hill and Inez Goettse.
She is survived by son Jon Ren Girton and wife Mary Jane, Brazil, grandsons Kevin Girton and wife Kathy, Steven Girton and wife Susan and Bradley Girton, all of Brazil, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Nov. 5, at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be noon, Thursday, with Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
