| Children and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to meet Santa in a new house during the Christmas In The Parks annual holiday celebration. The new house is located between the pool and the parks departments' office. Beginning Nov. 14, the shelters and playground will be closed so Christmas In The Park can begin work. The busy season for the parks is done and Supt. of Parks Bill Houck is busy working to prepare the parks for the winter season.
The Brazil City Parks Board met Wednesday with a short list of agenda items.
"The restrooms are done and the water is off," he said. "Four large bags of leaves were taken from the pool area."

Houck also commented the seeding, sand and mulch was in place in the parking lot of the Clay Youth League (CYL).
Repairs are being made to the playground in Forest Park and the last mow of the summer season was completed. This brought the total to 21 cuts. Houck did express concern over the new grates installed at the pool.
"They are smaller than our previous grates," he said. "We will just have to monitor it closer for clogging."
In other business, the parks board announced the playground and shelters will be closed beginning Nov. 14, because representatives from Christmas In The Park will begin work on this year's theme, "A Winter Wonderland."
Christmas In The Park representative John Day, updated the board on the progress of the new Santa house. The house will have electricity and the inside will be finished in time for Santa's arrival. Landscaping will be added eventually.
The board also discussed in depth the budget for next year and what to do in the case of unforeseen expenditures. In a unanimous, vote the board agreed for Houck to purchase the items he will need for next year, which include toilet paper, paint, lumber and screws.
The next meeting of the Brazil City Parks Board is set Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m., at Avenue Broadband Communications, Inc., because of a city council meeting taking place at the same time in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Avenue Broadband Communication is located at 604 E. National Ave. The board will be working on the five-year master plan, which allows them to apply for grants.
The Brazil City Parks Board will be meeting for a regular session meeting on Dec. 9, at 7 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
