Erlene Mary Cooper

Erlene Mary Cooper, 65, died at 11:30 p.m., Nov. 13, 2009, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Brazil.

She was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Mariah Hill, Ind., a daughter of Robert and Morina Miller Schaefer.

She married James Cooper on Jan. 11, 1974, in Huntingburg, Ind.

She retired from Masterbrand Cabinet after 30 years and recently worked at the Dollar Store.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 124 Ferdinand Auxiliary, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and the Ferdinand Senior Citizens.

Surviving are her husband James Cooper, daughters Mrs. Alan (Rhonda) Rasche, Ferdinand, and Mrs. Dirk (Roxanna) Stein, Evanston, sons Randall J. Weyer, Statesboro, Ga., Rodney Weyer, St. Meinrad, and Jerimah Cooper, Carbon, her mother Morina Schaefer, Ferdinand, sister Mrs. Randall (Laverne) Gogel, Mariah Hill, brothers Dennis Schaefer, Cincinnati, and Kevin Schaefer, St. Meinard, and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, and brother Wayne Schaefer.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m., today, and 7-9:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
