H1N1 vaccination clinic this weekend

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

The Clay County Health Department will conduct another H1N1 vaccination clinic for county residents from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, at the Clay County Courthouse.

The clinic is for the following target groups as specified by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC):

* Anyone ages 25-64 with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system,

* Pregnant women,

* People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age,

* Health care and emergency medical personnel, and

* Anyone from 6 months to 24-years-old.

Both the inactivated H1N1 injection and the live, attenuated H1N1 intranasal spray vaccines will be utilized depending on age and health status.

Clinic dates and hours of operation are dependant upon vaccine quantities received from the Indiana State Department of Health.

More H1N1 vaccination clinics will take place in the future for other target groups and for the general public according to CDC guidelines and as vaccine quantities permit.
