The North Clay seventh and-eighth-grade basketball teams split a pair of games on Wednesday evening against West Vigo.
The eighth-grade Knights scored a dominant, 44-16 victory and pulled away with a 17-0 advantage in the fourth quarter.
In the eighth-grade game, North Clay pulled out to a 16-6 lead after one period of play and then locked down the Vikings down the stretch for the big victory.
Both Nate Newton and Ethan Whitson had eight points to lead a balanced scoring effort as Daniel Kimball and Kelly Hawkins added seven apiece. Austin Butts added three and Jim Mace, Connor Ganly, Ian Heffner, Mark Underwood and Jeremy Maffioli each had two points. Tanner Wilson contributed one point in the win.
The seventh-grade squad dropped a 31-20 contest against the Vikings as Joe Ball led the scoring with eight points followed by four apiece from Derek Mills and Jacob Harden.
Next up for the eighth-grade Knights is a trip to Woodrow Wilson on Nov. 23 while the seventh-grade hosts the Warriors on the same evening at 6 p.m.
