Since 1993, the Christmas In The Park committee has conducted its annual parade on the day following Thanksgiving.

The parade took place Friday evening and was followed by the lighting of Forest Park.

Several other events will take place throughout the month of December during the seasonal celebration.

Santa Claus will be in the area to meet with children on several days.

Santa will be at his house every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m. In addition, Santa will be at the park from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, and Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Those with disabled children who are unable to make it up the steps into Santa's house should inform Santa and he will come out to visit them.

Pictures with Santa Claus will be available at a cost of $5 each.

From 9-11 a.m., Saturday, children will be able to have breakfast with Santa Claus as well.

The event will take place at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

The breakfast is free and open to the public. Children will be able to participate in Christmas crafts and color Christmas cards for local nursing home residents in addition to receiving a goodie bag when they leave.

Free pictures with Santa Claus will also be available. For more information regarding the breakfast, call Deb Plummer at 442-6761.

Hot chocolate and cookies will also be served at the Forest Park pool concession stand.

In addition, carriage rides through the park will take place again this year.

The rides have been scheduled for 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at a cost of $6 per person, and the rides are given by Enchanted Evening Carriage Rides.

Call 446-1811 to reserve a ride. Walk ups will be offered based on availability.

Another Great parade... It seems to get better each year. Thanks to Lynns Pharmacy and the Christmas in the Park.

The Parade was nicely done and the Fireworks were really fun entertainment. Not bad at all for a City this small. Shows that things can be done right if you work hard at it. Thanks Again.
