Grace was born in Clay County, Aug. 8, 1909, to Nathan D. and Lydia Belle (Burger) Swalley.
She attended the Beamer School. Grace married Lawrence Brown Dec. 22, 1934. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1986.
She was a member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church and has been a member of the Old Settlers for more than 50 years.
She loved flower and vegetable gardening, sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, brothers Earl Swalley, Joe Swalley, Dale Swalley, and Lowell Swalley, sisters Mae Jeffers, Ruth Krelein, Ann McKinney and infant sister Naomi Swalley.
Survivors include her son Charles Brown and wife Thea, Bloomington, daughters Phyllis Mickey and husband Frank, Terre Haute, and Mary Jones and husband Wayne, Bowling Green, grandchildren Scott Mickey, Sean Mickey, Jeff Jones, Jeremy Jones and wife Amy, granddaughter Gracie Jones, great-grandson Porter Jones, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services for Mr. Brown will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Mindy Huffman officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, from 4-8 p.m.
