Times Staff Report

The Northview boys freshman basketball teams split a pair of games with visiting Terre Haute South on Thursday night.

Northview won the 'A' game 42-40, taking a 20-13 halftime lead and holding on for the victory to improve to 2-3 on the season.

Braden Parr had 10 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, to pace the Knights. Bryce Britton added nine, while Skyler Holifield had eight, Craig Peters had seven, Phillip Lalen added five and Devin Clark had three.

"We had a really good defensive effort," coach Joey Bennett said. "South scored more than half of its points on 3-pointers, which they usually do, but we were able to defend the lane pretty well. This win should give us a lot of confidence, but we do play them two more times this year."

South won the 'B' game 33-15. Drake McKee led Northview with six points.

The teams will have a rematch on Monday at Terre Haute South.
