She was born in Bridgeton, April 21, 1929, to Mon and Ethel (Rukes) Hawkins. She graduated from Bridgeton High School.
On May 24, 1947, she married Earl Griffin Jr. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting and spending time with her family and dog Harley. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years Earl Griffin Jr., four brothers Raymond Hawkins, Bill Hawkins, Joe Hawkins and Gene Hawkins and two sisters Vesta Crooks and Dorothy Vaughn.
Survivors include three sons Ed Griffin, Steve and DeAnne Griffin, and Jerry and Sharon Griffin all of Brazil, grandchildren John and Shawn Gurley, Brazil, Lisa and Dan Chadd, Crawfordsville, Amy and Christian Conville, Indianapolis, David Griffin, Carbon, Earl and Amanda Griffin, Nashville, Tenn., and Scott Griffin and Jessie Jordan, Brazil, great-grandchildren, Kena Gurley, Kendall Gurley, Camden Chadd, Carson Chadd, Cale Chadd, Griffin Conville, Fletcher Conville, Kallie Griffin and Allister Griffin, great-great-grandson Kaden, special friends Jon Dome and Parker Jordan as well as a large extended family.
Services will be at French Funeral Home Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Run Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, from 4-8 p.m.
