TERRE HAUTE -- Celebrate the season at the Big Band Christmas Dance at Harmony Hall, 1257 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute, Saturday.

Dancing is encouraged with an enlarged dancing area in the front of the theatre, but listening is also an option.

The Fabulous Forties, a 17-piece big band, will entertain with favorite songs of the season as well as tunes straight out of the Great American Songbook of the big band era.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the 12 Points Greater Northside Association, tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased from Harmony Hall, Tilford's Variety Store, 1279 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute, or by calling 1-812-201-2962.

Tickets may also be purchased at the door the night of the performance.

Rich Curtis, President of the 12 Points Association, said that sponsors felt a Christmas Dance would be a good follow-up to the concert which took place in August, commemorating the 101st birthday of Claude Thornhill.

Elyse Marshall, a vocal student at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, will be the featured singer and will perform, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," "Christmas Time is Here, "Don't Know Why," and "Orange Colored Sky."

Modern arrangements of Christmas songs will also be performed.

Big band favorites will include signature tunes from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Harry James and Glenn Miller among others.

Seats will not be reserved.
