Jeanne Foster Campbell, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 1:23 a.m., Dec. 15, 2009. in Howard Regional Health System.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Patricksburg, Ind., as the daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Reeder) Foster. She was the wife of Henry A. Campbell, who died Oct. 15, 1999. They were married Dec. 25, 1943, in Center Point.
Mrs. Campbell graduated from Brazil High School in 1941, and attended Manchester College, North Manchester, Ind. She worked as a secretary at Manchester College, University of Maryland, Iowa State College and in Indianapolis and Brazil. She was most of all a wife, homemaker and mother of four children. She was baptized into the Church of the Brethren in a creek near Fernald, Iowa, in 1946. She has been an active member of Kokomo Church of the Brethren since 1960. She held the offices of Church Clerk and Recording Secretary, served on the Nominating and Personnel Committee, the good neighbor Committee, and Shepherd Programs. For the Women's Fellowship she had been President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Devotional Chairman, on the Program and Nominating Committees and served as chairman of Read-Study Group. She also was a representative to Church Women United in Kokomo. She served the Central Section Women's Fellowship as Chairman and was Vice President and Secretary of South/Central District of Indiana Women's Fellowship Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Jim and Kris (Driggs) Campbell, Kettering, Ohio, and Jay and Stephanie (Marshall) Campbell, Vancouver, Wash., two daughters and sons-in-law Janet and Phil Leininger, Galveston, Joyce and Tom Dreesen, Indianapolis, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth and Marvin Waldbieser, Center Point, and Harriet Sneddon, Brazil; nine grandchildren, Abby Jansen Van Vuuren, and husband, Christoff, Centerville, Ohio, Susan Leeke and husband, Don, Minneapolis, Minn., Andy Leininger and his wife, Tracy, Brownsburg, Ryan Leininger and his wife, Susan, McCordsville, Lindsay Campbell, Kristen Campbell, Nicholas Campbell, Jillian Campbell and Jack Campbell, Vancouver, Wash., five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Bailey Leeke, Carter, Danielle, and Stokley Leinginger, two stepgrandchildren and their wives, Kevin and Cristy Dreesen and Joel and Jessica Dreesen, Indianapolis, three step-great-grandchildren, Zachary Dreesen, Casey Dreesen, Kameron Dreesen, Evie Soltes and Gage Dreesen, Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a brother Jim Foster, sister-in-law Mary Lawler Foster, brother-in-law Ken Sneddon and sister-in-law, Edith Campbell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Kokomo Church of the Brethren, 311 West Lincoln Road, with Rev. Mark Stahl officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, and at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow Saturday afternoon at Center Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kokomo Church of the Brethren.
