The Northview junior varsity boys' basketball team used a second half surge to get past Edgewood on Thursday night by a 37-25 count.

The Knights got 14 second half points from forward Chance Talbot and used strong play in the paint down the stretch to pick up the victory.

The Mustangs tied the score at 18-all after a score by Grant Pederson and a 3-pointer from Matt Newman, but the Knights ended the period with a 6-0 run to end the period. Northview got a pair of buckets off assists to Talbot in the post and another hoop on a Dallas King drive for a 24-18 lead.

Holding a slim lead to open the fourth period, Northview went to Zach Hull for a score and Talbot pulled down an offensive rebound and fed Jacob Ninesling for a score and a 28-18 advantage. Talbot added another score to push the gap to 12 points. Newman added a late 3-pointer with 55 seconds left to slice the deficit to 32-23 for the Mustangs, but the Knights got a free throw from Hull, two more from Talbot and a fieldgoal from the forward to extend the lead and gather in the victory.

The first half was sloppy for both teams as Northview committed 10 turnovers before halftime and the Mustangs missed all eight of its shots from the field in the first quarter. Edgewood wasn't able to take advantage of 6'9 junior Sulayman Bah's height advantage before he got into foul trouble. The Knights got a 3-pointer from Justin Rodgers and five, first quarter points from Hull to hold a narrow 11-10 lead at the half.

Dalton Rohr drives in for a lay-up following a steal during the Knights' win over Edgewood.
Talbot led the scoring with 14 points and added five rebounds with Hull tallying eight points to go with five more boards. Rodgers added six points and King had five rebounds to go with three points.

The Knights play next on Saturday night at home against Avon with a freshmen game beginning at 5 p.m.
