Lloyd Herbert Plunkett, 85, Center Point, passed away Dec. 17, 2009, at 9:30 p.m., in Clinton, Miss.
He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Vigo County, the son of William Luther Plunkett and Anna Ruth Davis Plunkett.
He was a World War II veteran. He graduated from Marion College.
Lloyd retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken as a general manager.
On Aug. 16, 1952, he married Dorothy L. Steingrabe. She survives.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil, serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and Song leader.
He also served on various committees.
Lloyd enjoyed being out in the woods, picking berries, and cutting wood. He also developed a talent for putting together model ships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Donald Plunkett.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Plunkett, children Patricia L. Davis and husband Martin, Clinton, Miss., Deanna L. Harper and husband Warren, Greenville, Miss., Michael L. Plunkett and wife Cathey, Madison, Miss., Timothy L. Plunkett, Madison, Miss., and Phillips L. Plunkett, Denver, Colo., sister Rosalee Mullenix and husband Charles, Carbon, brothers Harold Plunkett and wife Betty, Brazil, and Robert Plunkett and wife Dianna, New Albany, Ind., sister-in-law Helen Plunkett, Little Rock, Ark., eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastors Mark Thompson, Bob Sampson, and Dick McShanog officiating.
Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and prior to services on Tuesday.
