Betty Jean Goss, 85, Brazil, died unexpectedly Dec. 20, 2009, at her home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Terre Haute, the daughter of James Fielding and Catherine Gibson Fielding.
She graduated from Reelsville High School, Class of 1942.
As a young woman, she worked at Bridgeport Brass for five-and-a-half years. She went to beauty school at "My Lady Beauty School" in 1955.
She owned and operated Betty Goss's Beauty Shop since 1956.
Betty also sold real estate for Rollins Real Estate for 17 years.
She was a member of the Knightsville OES for more than 50 years. A past member of the Brazil BPW and the National Campers and Hikers Association, Candlelight Division.
She volunteered at Cloverleaf Nursing Home and for the Share Food program. She was also a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William A. Goss, on Nov. 26, 1999, brother James O. Fielding (Connie), and son Jack Allan Goss in 2002.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Ray M. Brown (Gail), Homestead, Fla., daughter-in-law Nancy Goss, Shelbyville, granddaughters Lesa Branigan (Michael), Brandy Kearschner (Bruce), and Mandy Anderson (Erin), great-grandchildren Nicolas Branigan, Alexander Branigan, Bruce Kearschner, Aundrea Kearschner, Jacob Anderson, Jaiden Anderson, nephew Bill Fielding and niece Mary Kay Fielding, and other extended family.
Services will take place Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Rev. Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m., and again Wednesday, prior to services.
