We have hand sanitizers in the church and at the bingo hall for everyone to use.

We held bingo last Sunday and had 40 hearty people come out to play. I was worried for a while because we had more volunteers than players, but they eventually came out. I will put an announcement on the phone at the bingo hall (if I can make it there) if we are not playing bingo that day. Our phone number is 812-448-8198.

Bingo every Sunday evening at Kennedy Crossing. We are smoke-free. Packages start as low a $17, for a six pack for 20 games and two entries into the jar ball. The pot for regular bingo is $70 per game except for the $125 small jackpot and the large jackpot which is $1,000 for 55 numbers or less and $325 after 55 numbers. We also have winner-take-all which is normally around $250, depending on the crowd of course and bonanza games. We also have a sidepack game that is played along with the regular games and a bingo on it gets a draw for a monetary prize of $5 to $150. If we have 100 or more players at 7 p.m. the pots will be $100. Come early and socialize and get something to eat. We always have good food and free coffee. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. We play 10 speed games starting at 6 p.m., each and every Sunday and our Early Bird games start at 6:30 p.m. Regular bingo starts at 7 p.m. Our bingo hall is located at 8990 N. Kennedy Crossing Rd. across from the Northview High School baseball field. We are handicapped accessible and we have a lighted parking lot and a covered outside smoking area.

Some of us thought that 2010 would never get here and now that it is ... were aren't ready! We might have new clothes from Christmas and made a list of resolutions for New Years, but how do we take that first step? How do we go about making the changes we have planned?

Did you ever think that Jesus might have had some of the same thoughts about where to start with his ministry? Where should he begin and who should he entrust to help him? Get this clear, his first step was prayer in the wilderness! Then it began. He went to the temple in his home town of Nazareth and read the words of Isaiah which read, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." {Isaiah 61:1,2} At this the people from his own community literally tried to kill him! He needed help!

So Christ personally chose his disciples. He chose them before they chose him. He called them from various positions in the community and began to invest his energies in them. He led them through various stages of their calling which include both their conversion, an internship with the teacher and their call to specific ministry.

As always, Sunday Worship begins at 9:00 and Sunday School follows at 10:45. Everyone is truly welcome! Come and join us!

We don't know when Christ will return, so we want to make sure as many as possible get the chance to be with Him in Heaven. We look forward to seeing you soon. May God be with you.

Otter Creek Christian Church

Just seems like yesterday we were entering the year 2009 and here we are in 2010, time sure flies when we're praising the Lord and giving the glory to Him. Have you already broken your resolution for 2010? Several years ago, I decided to not make the typical resolutions, instead I chose a scripture and have tried in earnest to apply it to my life Philippians 3: 14 " Forgetting those things in the past and pressing toward the high calling of Jesus Christ." Paul used these words and we could all press toward the higher calling that the Bible calls to those who are "called according to His purpose" and who believe in Christ.

Now don't get me wrong I've failed many times in fact as Romans 3: 23 says "ALL have fallen short of the glory of God", all that is except one, the only begotten son of God, Jesus Christ. That does not give us permission to sin it only tells us to keep persevering to do right in the eyes of God. Everything seems right to the one who wants an excuse to do wrong, so don't judge yourself by man's standards but check out the Word of God see what it has to say about your particular excuse.

Have you decided to make a new life by following Jesus closer in 2010? This may be your last chance to get your life in order.

Your first step should be to ask for forgiveness for the sins you have done (no matter whether large or small) sin is still sin. One of the worst sins is to judge others and condemn them. Just how far have you walked in their shoes? We are not the one who can decide another persons fate, for in so doing we shall be judged by our heavenly Father.

Second you should read your Bible daily, when I've failed to do this my day goes really backwards.

Third, talk with the Lord like you would your best friend, get all the 'junk' out of your mind: Matthew 11: 28 Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest."

Fourth, find a Church that preaches the Word of God, not just man.

2nd Timothy 4: 2--4 "Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears, And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Actually, as a once popular song goes "It's not what's over the door but what's in your heart, that's what God is looking for."

We'd like to invite you to our church if you don't have a church home, Where it's true that where two or more are gathered together there He is also. Otter Creek Christian Church is located at 6299 N. Crow Street, Brazil, In. There is usually someone there by 9:15 a. m. on Sunday so if you need directions call 812-446-5300. Service times are 9:30 Sunday Study, and 10:40 a. m. Worship. Contact Pastor Steve at 446-4007.

Pray for those who are serving our nation whether abroad or at home and for those who are less fortunate than you. May God be with you till we meet again.

First Baptist Church

St. Luke's description of the boy Jesus (Luke 2:52) says, "Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." That should be our inspiration for this new year 2010. These are theareas of our lives we all need to work on. We need to continue to take care of our mind, our body, our relationship with God and our relationship with others.

Actively participating in the church life at First Baptist can help you in all four of these areas of your life.

Sunday, Jan 3rd is Communion Sunday. What a wonderful way to start the year as we take communion with a grateful and repentant heart. Worship service begins at 10:30. There is an adult-staffed nursery. Darlene Shepard will be in charge of Spirit Kids.

Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 with classes for infants, children, youth and multiple adult classes.

We are excited about the possibility of having the elevator operational this Sunday.

You are invited to stay following morning services to help take down the Christmas decorations.

AWANA and Youth are back on their regular schedule at 5:30. They will meet in the sanctuary for songs, lessons, and prayer. A light supper is served in the fellowship room before going to their classrooms for Bible work and games. Their dismissal is 7 p.m.

The adult evening program begins at 6 p.m., with praise and Bible study. This will be followed by choir practice.

Tuesday, the 5th, the committees will meet at 6 p.m. This will be very important as it will be an organizational and informational time for all new committee members.

Wednesday will be the Mid-week Bible Study. We are now in the book of Judges. This study begins at 12:15 and anyone of the area is invited to participate. We meet in the Fellowship Roomso we can have use of the tables for coffee and lesson material. This is very casual and relaxed so come and experience this time with us.

Thursday, The Rock service begins at 7:00p.m. This unique service of praise and worship is an opportunity for anyone who was not able to attend Sunday services and for those who use this opportunity to build a deeper relationship with God. There is singing with multi-media presentations and guitar, message delivered by Pastor Mark, and children's programming.

Use this beginning of 2010 to build new relationships and try new things. A relationship with God gives us faith, hope and love, which provides meaning and purpose in our lives. It helps us cope with changes in our lives. This relationship enables us to handle anxiety, worry and fears for the future. For the strength and guidance needed for each day, let First Baptist help provide the tools.

See you Sunday.

Community Missionary Church

21 W. Pinckley Street

Pastor Ken Thomas asked the congregation last Sunday, "How many would like to know what will all happen in the New Year? How many would like to know just a little bit?"

Then Pastor Thomas asked how many don't want to know what will happen in the New Year?

Well, he added that "we really don't need to know. That God wants us to press on. That our mistakes are stepping stones. That we should have learned from the past -- they are gone and start the New Year with God as your guide, your counselor, allow Him to live in your heart."

Pastor Thomas and wife, along with the congregation, invite all ages to join us if you do not have a church. Services for Sunday school are 9:30 a.m., and morning worship is at 10:30.

Carbon United Methodist Church

Happy New Year! Let's pray that the year 2010 will be a good year. The world has so many major problems that we need all the help God can give us. The year 2009 has not been a very good year. Perhaps we should pray a little (or a lot) harder in this coming year. Not that we pray for a happy new year as much as a good, God-directed year.

The church will be having an annual planning meeting on Jan. 24. There will be a pitch-in dinner after church and then we will sit down and plan all the things the church will be doing in the coming year. This dinner and meeting is for everyone in the church, so mark it down on your calendar and plan to attend.

The January board meeting will take care of any pertinent business at the same time as the planning sessions.

The women's group, the Believers will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 20. We welcome all women and hope to have a good group attend. It will be at 7 p.m.

It was so good to have all the visitors and young people home for the holidays at our Christmas Eve service. Their special music was wonderful and we thank them for putting it all together.

The candlelight service was so beautiful and meaningful. It left you with such a genuine feeling of awe and thankfulness that God would send his Son Jesus to us as an humble babe in a world that was just as torn up then as it is now.

Have you made any New Years Resolutions? I hope that one of them is to turn to God more and to show your love for God by putting aside enough time each week to go to His house to worship Him and thank Him for all that He does for us. If your first reaction to this statement is "Bah, Humbug," perhaps you need to sit down and count your blessings instead of your problems. You will find that they make the problems seem insignificant.

Again, Happy New Year!

Carbon Baptist Church

Just wanted to say a little about what our church has to offer those who come.

Sunday evenings, we have a Youth Group called Thirsty, which is led by Pastor Chris Lee. They meet in the modular behind the church. It starts at 6:47 p.m.

On Wednesday evening, at 7 p.m., the cell groups meet at various places, and are led by different teachers. If you would like to be plugged into on, just ask.

The High School has a Bible study at 7:15 p.m., Wednesday night, at the home of Bill and Kelly Searing, which is led by Pastor Chris.

Also on Wednesday night, Pastor Chris leads a College Bible study at 10 p.m.

On the third Saturday of every month, we have a Men's Prayer Breakfast that starts around 7 a.m. Men are always welcome.

On the last Tuesday of each month, we have a Ladies' Ministry meeting which meets at various homes and ladies are always welcome.

The second Friday of every month, at 10:30 a.m., a group of 50 and over meets at the church for a pitch-in lunch.

This just gives you an idea of some of the functions we have at Carbon Baptist. Please come and be a part of this growing church.

On Jan. 9, from 10 a.m.-noon, the IVY Tech Main Campus/Terre haute Oakley Auditorium will host a discussion on the topic of Understanding Your Teenager. For more information, contact Wabash Valley Youth for Christ at 812-232-3781.

God Bless and Happy New Year.
