INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man was formally charged Tuesday of murdering another man at a home in Geist.
Geist is an area in northeastern Indianapolis -- in Lawrence Township -- and southeastern Hamilton County. The area is named after a local reservoir.
Toby Hicks, 29, was charged with murder and robbery in the death of Stephen Pence, 49, whose body was found at his Geist home.
Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department identified Hicks as a suspect in the murder and he was eventually taken into custody from another Indianapolis home for questioning.
The Marion County Prosecutor's office filed formal charges against Hicks Tuesday.
According to reports, Hicks met Pence and another man at an Indianapolis bar. The three decided to call an escort to Pence's home for a private party.
According to the report, the escort was dancing privately for Pence in the home, when Hicks hit him over the head with an object before taking his wallet.
Hicks then forced the escort at gunpoint to drive him to Brazil, according to reports.
