Kermit Quentin Hibner, 86, Brazil, died 12:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Indianapolis, as the son of William H. and Berta Mount Hibner. Following graduation from Shortridge High School he graduated from Butler University and the Indiana University School of Medicine. During World War II worked on Navy aircraft. He worked as a family physician in Bloomington, Ind., until his retirement. He married Norma Piercy April 1, 1960, in Danville, Ind. She preceded him in death May 13, 2009.

He attended the Evangelical Community Church in Bloomington, and was a member of the American Medical Association and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was also an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma, sons, Kermit Hibner II and Kevin Hibner, grandsons Robby Boyden and Christopher Hibner, sisters Ruth Hibner and Mary Gratia, and brothers William Hibner and Harold Hibner.

He is survived by daughters Michelle (Fritz) Oehler, Sharon (Johnny) White, Carol Lavender (Hank) Moore, Tina Boyden, Denise (Bryan) Young, and Jody (Don) Phillips, sons Richard (Debora) Acord, and Kurt (Laurie) Hibner, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Moore Funeral Home was chosen to provide cremation services. A private family and close friend memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Valhalla Cemetery in Bloomington, Ind., with Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating.
