Despite the snowfall Thursday evening, a 24-year-old Terre Haute man was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
According to the Indiana State Police Terre Haute Post, a preliminary investigation revealed ISP Capt. Brent Johnson was assisting other troopers working multiple slide-offs and crashes on Interstate-70 eastbound near the 22-milemarker when a collision took place between a 2007 Gold Cadillac Escalade and the unmarked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Johnson.
During the crash investigation, troopers identified the driver as Jeffrey P. Ennen II, 24, Terre Haute.
He tested above the legal limit for intoxication and was transported to the Clay County Justice Center.
There was no major damage to either vehicle.
ISP officials reported they had responded to nine slide-offs and two vehicle crashes on I-70 between the 21- and 28-milemarkers. No injuries were reported in either accident.
Since Thursday morning, ISP reported a total of 22 vehicle accidents and 41 slide-offs as a result of the weather.
ISP is recommending motorists only travel if necessary.
