ROCKVILLE -- Parke County REMC will give away eight $500 college scholarships to children of members of Parke County REMC who will attending accredited colleges as first-year students in the fall of this year.
Each scholarship awarded will total $500 and will be payable in two semesters.
Any high school senior who will be graduating high school this year whose parents or guardians are members of Parke County REMC are eligible. They must have a high school grade-point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) during the first semester of their senior year.
Students must complete and submit applications for the scholarships to Parke County REMC by April 5. Students must provide their first semester senior year school transcript, a one two-page typed, double-space, essay and two letters of recommendation. All applicants must complete an essay on "How will your college education improve you and your community," and "How will this scholarship assist in attaining your goals?"
Applications packets, which include guidelines, may be obtained from school guidance counselor departments, local extension offices and Parke County REMC.
The selection criteria will be based on scholastic achievement, school involvement, community involvement and recommendations.
Students that earn the scholarships will receive notification by Parke County REMC and will be presented a scholarship award certificate during applicable school award ceremonies.
All scholarship entries are confidential and will be viewed only by the Scholarship Committee.
