Clay City junior high girls split with Cardinals

BLOOMFIELD -- The Clay City junior high basketball teams split a pair of games on Thursday evening.

The seventh-grade Eels improved to 2-0 overall with a 27-21 win over the Cardinals as Logan Ellinger led the way with 13 points. Ashley Linton tallied four, followed by two each from Morgan Booe, Emmie Kittle and Whitney Milner.

The eighth-grade fell just short despite a 19-point effort from Alex Wolfe.

Bloomfield was able to edge the Eels 32-31 in a game that was tight throughout. The teams were never more than two points apart at the end of any quarter.

Kyle Truax added five points for the Eels with Ashley Linton adding three, Claire Miller had two along with Abby Shidler.

The seventh-grade (2-0) and eighth-grade (1-1) will host North Central on Monday evening at 6 p.m.
