He was born March 9, 1927, in Clay County, Indiana, as the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Lechner Hauser.
Following graduation from Bowling Green High School, he began a career as a truck driver. During his career, he worked for more than 21 years for Wabash Valley Trucking and retired from Romas Trucking.
He married Lillian Rosalee Williams in 1949. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Poland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Lou Schopmeyer.
He is survived by his wife Lillian, daughter Glenna Lee Simons, grandchildren Johnathan Samuel Simons, Christopher Lee Simons (Numia), and Katherine Elisabeth Clare Simons, great-granddaughter Adrienne Simons, and sisters Rosalind Schopmeyer and Linda Romas.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, and 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Poland.
