The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee has scheduled the following dates for meetings in 2010: Feb. 16, May 18, Aug. 17, and Nov. 16. CCLEPC will schedule its annual exercise for October, with the type of exercise and chemical event to be determined.
The meetings start at 6 p.m., and are held at the Clay County Justice Center, 611 E. Jackson St., Brazil.
The purpose of the LEPC is to assist local responders with training and equipment needed to handle hazardous materials events and to keep the emergency response plan updated here in Clay County.
In 2009, training classes were conducted in Hazardous Materials Awareness, Operations, and Technician for local response agencies, a tabletop exercise on communications and purchased mini basins for responders to use for Hazmat leaks.
The meetings are open to all responders and local agencies within Clay County.
